Red Velvet Cake
Red Velvet Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tbsp. cocoa and 2 oz. red food coloring, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Beat sugar and shortening until smooth; add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
Mix flour, salt and cocoa together; add to mixture.
Add milk, coloring and vanilla; mix well.
Add soda on top of batter; pour vinegar on soda and mix with fork.
Divide batter in 2 cake pans that have been greased and floured.
Bake at 300Β° for 30 minutes.
Ice with Cream Cheese Frosting.
