Red Devil's Food Cake
Red Devil'S Food Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. sugar, 1 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. plus 1 tbsp. shortening, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 c. sour cream, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cream sugar, salt, shortening and flavoring together 3 minutes, about 450 strokes by hand.
Add hot water.
Beat well after adding each egg.
Sift dry ingredients in 4 parts alternately with milk in 3 parts.
Beat after each addition only until smooth.
Turn into two 9-inch round pans, the bottoms of which are covered with oiled waxed paper.
Bake in moderate oven at 350Β° for 35 minutes or until done.
Frost with favorite icing.
