Quick Sauerbraten
Quick Sauerbraten is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 tbsp. flour, 1 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 1/2 lb. (1-inch) round steak, cut in 1 x 3-inch strips, 2 tbsp. oil and 1/2 c. vinegar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Combine flour and salt, roll meat in mixture.
Brown in hot oil.
Add sliced onions, vinegar, water and sugar.
Tie spices in small piece of cheesecloth and add.
Cover and simmer gently about 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.
Remove spice bag.
Add gingersnaps and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for about 15 minutes or until gravy is thick.
Yields 5 to 6 servings.
