Quick Brown Bread
Quick Brown Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour, 2 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 c. fine, dried bread crumbs (white, rye or graham) or crushed graham crackers and 1/3 c. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Sift together the dry ingredients in a bowl; mix in bread crumbs.
Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture looks like meal.
Stir in raisins.
Mix together the eggs, buttermilk and molasses; stir into flour mixture until blended. Pour batter into a well-greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan or three 10 x 5 x 3-inch bread pans.
Bake in preheated 400Β° oven for 30 minutes for oblong or bread pans.
Serve warm.
Makes 3 loaves.
