Plain Pound Cake
Plain Pound Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. sugar, 1 c. crisco or margarine, 4 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 tsp. lemon or almond extract, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Preheat oven to 350°.
Grease and flour Bundt or tube pan. Cream the sugar and Crisco. Add eggs, one at a time, until each is well blended.
Mix in extracts.
Beat in flour, salt and soda alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Slide sharp knife around edges of cake. Allow to cool 15 minutes before removing from pan.
