Made with 2 c. all-purpose flour, 1 c. sugar, 2 tsp. baking powder, 3/4 c. margarine or butter, melted and cooled and 1 tbsp. anise extract or vanilla or lemon extract, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Grease pizzelle iron.

Heat pizzelle iron according to manufacturer's directions.

(You can also use a krumkake iron instead of pizzelle iron.)

Mix all ingredients.

Drop 1 tablespoon batter onto heated pizzelle iron and close iron.

Bake about 30 seconds or until golden brown.

Carefully remove pizzelle from iron; cool.

Repeat with remaining batter.

Makes about 3 1/2 dozen, 75 calories per cookie.
