Pita Bread

Pita Bread is an easy dinner. Made with 5 to 5 1/4 c. whole wheat flour or part whole wheat and part unbleached, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tbsp. yeast and 2 c. very warm, but not hot, water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.

Mix ingredients together and add more flour if necessary.

Make into 2 balls.

Knead each ball, then divide into 12 smaller balls. Cover.

Let rise about 30 to 40 minutes.

Flatten balls to about 6 inches in diameter with rolling pin on a lightly floured board. Cover and let rise slightly.

Flip the dough so that the bottom side of the bread dough is on the top side of baking sheets. Preheat oven as hot as it bakes.

Place sheet on lowest rack.

Bake about 2 to 4 minutes.

Makes 24 pita breads.
