Heat oven to 350Β°.
Melt chocolate and shortening together in small saucepan over low heat.
Pour over sugar, eggs and vanilla in mixing bowl.
Once mixed, stir in remaining ingredients. Spread batter in greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
Bake 30 minutes or until brownies pull away from sides of pan.
Do not overbake. Cool.
Cut in squares.
Makes 32 small bars.
