Perfect Cornbread
Perfect Cornbread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. flour, 1 c. cornmeal, 1/3 c. sugar, 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder and 1 c. milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Mix milk, egg and shortening and add to flour mixture.
Stir just enough to moisten flour mixture.
Pour into an iron skillet that has been heated on top of stove with 2 tablespoons of oil to hot (the cornbread mixture should sizzle when it is poured into the pan).
Bake in a 425Β° oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
