Pear Tart
Pear Tart is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 lb. ripe pears, cut into pieces, juice of 1 lemon, 1/2 c. plus 1/4 c. butter, 3/4 c. plus 1/4 c. sugar and 2 eggs, beaten, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Preheat oven to 350°.
Grease a 9-inch spring pan.
Toss pears with lemon juice.
Cream 1/2 cup butter with 3/4 cup sugar.
Add beaten eggs, one at a time.
Sift flour and baking powder.
Add to mixture.
Add almond extract.
Stir batter.
It will be thick. Spread batter in pan.
Top with pear mixture.
Top with 1/4 cup each butter and sugar.
Top with slivered almonds.
Bake at 350° for about 1 hour.
