Position knife blade in food processor bowl; add pears. Process until finely chopped.

Measure pears to equal 4 cups.

Combine 4 cups pears, pineapple and remaining ingredients in a heavy saucepan; bring slowly to a boil.

Cook, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves.

Reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, 40 minutes or until thick.

Spoon mixture into hot sterilized jars, filling to 1/4-inch from top; wipe jar rims.

Cover at once with metal lids and screw on bands. Process in boiling-water bath 5 minutes.

Cool on a wire rack. Store in a cool, dark place.

Yield

3 half pints.
