Peanut Butter Blossoms

Cream shortening and peanut butter.
Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and brown sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well.
Combine flour and creamed mixture.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls; roll into 1/4 cup of sugar.
Place balls 2-inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375Β° for 8 minutes.
Remove from oven, press a chocolate kiss into center of cookie; return to oven for another 2 minutes.
Yield: 4 dozen.
