Dissolve sugar, Karo, salt and water in medium cast-iron skillet, stirring until mixture begins to boil.

Turn heat down and stir occasionally.

Cook about 6 to 8 minutes.

Add peanuts, stirring occasionally.

Cook until syrup begins to brown and peanuts are parched.

Add oleo and vanilla.

Stir and cook 1 minute.

Add soda.

Stir fast and pour onto buttered foil.
