Mix sugar, syrup, water and salt in saucepan. Heat to 230° using candy thermometer and then add 1 lb. raw peanuts.

Keep stirring and boil to 300°. Remove from stove and add: (pre-measured and in order) vanilla, butter and soda.

Hold soda until nearly cool enough to pour. Pour right after foaming reaches mix. While foaming pour on warmed, buttered cookie sheet and spread with wooden spoon.

While still hot, skid off cookie sheet onto buttered aluminum foil on counter top and spread with fingers to desired thickness.
