Patty'S Applesauce Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 4 c. flour (minus 2 heaping tbsp.), 2 heaping tbsp. cocoa, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1 tsp. nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.

Sift together flour, cocoa, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice.
Coat raisins and nuts (if wanted).
Cream shortening; add sugar and beat well.
Add eggs.
Beat well.
Add applesauce. Add to flour mixture and mix well.
Dissolve soda in water and add to mixture.
Mix well and pour in large greased and floured tube pan.
