Pastry is an easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. plus 2 tbsp. shortening or 2/3 c. lard, 2 c. self-rising flour and 4 to 5 tbsp. cold water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cut shortening into flour until particles are size of small peas.
Sprinkle in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, tossing with a fork until all flour is moistened and pastry almost cleans side of bowl (1 to 2 teaspoons water can be added, if necessary).
