Heat oven to 350Β°.
Beat in a medium bowl with wooden spoon the sugars, margarine, peanut butter, vanilla and egg until creamy and well blended.
Mix in flour, oats, baking soda and salt.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown.
Cut into 2-inch bars.
Makes 36 bars.
