Place orange juice, rind, boiling water and raisins in a bowl.
Add sugar, soda, butter, vanilla, and egg.
Add flour, baking powder, salt and nuts.
Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour.
Ice with thin powdered sugar icing if desired.
