Onion Bread
Onion Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. warm water, 1 pkg. dry yeast, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 tbsp. shortening and 1 tbsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Dissolve yeast in water and sugar; let rest 5 minutes.
Add shortening, salt and 1 cup flour.
Let rest again for 5 minutes. Then add rest of flour.
Knead about 10 minutes.
Let rise until double.
Grease jelly roll pan (not oil).
Roll out; stretch dough into pan.
Poke holes; brush dough with oil.
Spread onion around. Salt and pepper lightly.
Rosemary leaves are optional.
Let rise 20 minutes.
Bake at 375Β° for 20 to 25 minutes.
Cut into 3 x 3-inch squares.
