Old-Time Spice Cake
Old-Time Spice Cake is an impressive dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 46 minutes. Made with c. butter, softened, c. packed light brown sugar, large eggs, (10 3/4 oz.) can tomato soup and c. plain flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
In medium bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time; beat after each.
Beat in soup.
On waxed paper, mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda and cloves.
Add to soup mixture alternately with milk.
Begin and end with dry ingredients; combine well.
Fold in raisins and nuts. Divide batter evenly in the pans.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes (or do toothpick test).
Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn on wire racks to cool completely.
Use cream cheese frosting.
