Old-Fashioned Thick Eggnog
Old-Fashioned Thick Eggnog is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 12 eggs, separated, 1 c. sugar, 3/4 c. bourbon, 3/4 c. cognac and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
In electric mixer, beat egg yolks with sugar until thick. Slowly add bourbon and cognac.
Chill 2 hours.
Meanwhile, add salt to egg whites and beat until almost stiff.
Whip cream until stiff.
Fold whipped cream into yolk mixture, then fold in beaten egg whites.
Chill 2 hours.
When ready to serve, sprinkle with nutmeg and serve in cups with a spoon.
If desired, add 1 or 2 cups of milk to the yolk mixture for a thinner eggnog.
