Old-Fashioned Gingerbread

Preheat the oven to 350°
Beat butter at medium speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy
Gradually add sugar, beating well
Add eggs and molasses, mixing well
Combine flour and next 4 ingredients
Add to butter mixture alternately with hot water, beginning and ending with flour mixture
Mix after each addition
Pour batter into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes
