Cream butter; add sugar, egg, sour milk and chocolate, melted over hot water (may use cocoa, if chocolate is not available). Sift flour, salt and soda and mix into chocolate mixture.
Add raisins and nuts, if desired, and mix in.
Mix well and drop with a teaspoon onto a buttered cookie sheet; or use more flour and roll out.
Bake in a moderate oven (350Β°).
