Cream together shortening, brown sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
Stir in buttermilk.
Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, salt and spices.
Stir in creamed mixture.

Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in a 350Β° oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
