Oatmeal Bread
Oatmeal Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. oatmeal, 2/3 c. brown sugar, 2 tbsp. shortening, 1 tsp. salt and 2 c. boiling water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Combine oatmeal, brown sugar, shortening and salt.
Cover with boiling water and let stand.
Dissolve yeast in 1/3 cup water and add sugar.
Pour into oatmeal.
Add flour and knead for 5 minutes. Put into greased bowl and let rise until double, about 1 hour. Punch down and let rest 10 minutes.
Form 2 loaves and put in greased loaf pans.
Let rise until double, about 45 minutes.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350Β°.
