Oatmeal Bread
Oatmeal Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. quick oats, 1 pt. boiling water, 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. cold milk and 5 1/2 to 6 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Place oats in bowl, pour boiling water over it; add 1/4 cup brown sugar and milk.
When mixture is only warm, crumble in yeast.
Sift and measure 2 cups flour, add and beat smooth.
Let stand in a warm place until light and bubbly.
Stir in salt, melted margarine and other 1/4 cup brown sugar.
Sift, measure and add 3 1/2 to 4 cups flour.
Knead until smooth.
Cover closely or grease top.
Let stand until double in bulk.
Punch down.
When light again, form into loaves.
Place in well-greased pans.
Brush tops with egg white (beaten slightly) and sprinkle quick oats over loaves.
Let stand until double in bulk.
Bake at 350° to 375° for 55 to 60 minutes.
Remove from pans at once.
