Oatmeal Bread
Oatmeal Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. boiling water, 3 tbsp. crisco, 2 c. rolled oats, 1 c. molasses and 4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Add boiling water to oats and Crisco. Allow to cool to lukewarm. Add molasses, salt and yeast (dissolved in lukewarm water) with 1 teaspoon sugar (to be sure yeast is good). Add flour to make stiff dough. Knead well.
Let rise until double in bulk. Knead very little.
Divide into 4 greased bread pans.
Let rise again.
Bake for 10 minutes at 400°, then lower oven to 350° for another 15 minutes, being sure to turn.
