My Favorite Caramel Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. self-rising flour, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. crisco puritan oil (do not use wesson), 1 c. sweet milk and 2 eggs, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Grease and flour 2 (9 1/2-inch) layer pans.
Heat oven to 350°.
Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl.
Add oil and 2/3 of the milk.
Beat 2 minutes at medium speed with electric mixer. Add remaining milk, eggs and vanilla.
Beat 2 minutes longer. Pour into prepared pans.
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until centers spring back when lightly pressed with fingertip.
Cool, then frost.
