Mother's Icebox Cookies
Mother'S Icebox Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. margarine, 1 c. brown sugar (1/2 dark, 1/2 light), 1 egg, 3 c. flour and 1/2 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Sift dry ingredients together.
Cream margarine and sugar. Add egg and mix well, then add dry ingredients and nuts.
Divide dough into 4 parts.
Shape into long rolls, each roll will be approximately 1-inch in diameter and about the length of the width of wax paper.
Bake at 375Β° for 11 minutes.
Yields 2 (1 pound) coffee cans.
A good cookie for mailing.
