Cream butter sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time, and mix well.
Add buttermilk.
Add flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing well. Add vanilla.
Layer cake bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes. For sheet bake at 325° for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Makes layers sheet cake.
