Moravian Cookies
Moravian Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pt. plus 2 c. grandma's molasses, 1 lb. brown sugar, 4 lb. plain flour (approximately), 2 tsp. baking soda and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
In large bowl, mix together flour, sugar and shortening.
Make a hole in center.
Pour in molasses.
Add spices, salt and soda. Blend well.
Add hot water.
(Add more flour if necessary to form a soft dough.)
(These ingredients should all be mixed by hand.) Refrigerate overnight before baking.
Roll out a fist sized ball of dough on floured surface.
(Should roll very thin.)
Cut with assorted cutters.
Bake at 325Β° for approximately 3 to 5 minutes.
