Combine first 7 ingredients until smooth. Sift flour and soda together.
Add half of the flour to Crisco mixture and blend. Blend in buttermilk.
Add remaining flour. Mix well. Measure out level tablespoons of dough on Crisco-coated baking sheet.
Flatten cookies by stamping with a flat bottom glass covered with sugar.
In 350Β° oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Yields
