Cream shortening and sugar.
Beat in egg and molasses.
Sift flour, salt, soda and spices into creamed mixture.
Shape size of walnuts.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Flatten a little with fork dipped in flour and can sprinkle with sugar if you want. Bake at 375Β° for 10 minutes.
