Place chocolate chips and vegetable shortening in a medium microwave-safe bowl.
Cover and microwave on High 2 minutes or until chips are melted.
Stir at 1 minute.
Stir in nuts.
Dip animal crackers in the chocolate mixture.
Remove with a fork. Place on waxed paper and refrigerate until cool.
