Mazell's Caramel Icing
Mazell'S Caramel Icing is an moderately easy dinner you can prepare in about 1 hour 10 minutes. Made with c. milk, c. granulated sugar and butter or margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Add 1 cup milk and 2 3/4 cups sugar in a large boiler.
Bring this to a rolling boil.
In a small skillet, caramelize 1/4 cup sugar.
Pour into milk and sugar mix.
Boil, stirring constantly, until thick.
Pour into mixing bowl with margarine.
Beat well. (If too thick to spread easily, add milk 1 teaspoon at a time until right consistency.)
Spread evenly over cake layers.
