Put milk and brown sugar in pan; heat to boil.
Boil 2 1/2 minutes.
Remove from heat and add butter, peanut butter and vanilla.
Stir thoroughly.
Pour into a greased 8 x 8-inch or 9 x 9-inch dish.
Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
