Cream together shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Combine flour, 1 teaspoon soda and salt.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Take out 2 cups of batter and pour the rest in a greased and floured Bundt pan.
Add 1/4 teaspoon soda and chocolate syrup to the 2 cups of batter.
Pour in pan over the other batter.
Bake at 350Β° for approximately 1 hour.
