Lemon Bread
Lemon Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 tbsp. shortening, 1 c. sugar, 2 eggs, beaten, 1 tbsp. grated lemon peel and 1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Cream the shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs and lemon peel. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add alternately with milk.
Fold in nuts.
Pour into greased and floured 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour or until lightly brown (check in 45 minutes).
Remove. Dissolve the 1/3 cup sugar in the lemon juice.
Pour over the bread.
Let stand for 10 minutes.
Remove from pan and cool.
