Lane Cake
Lane Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 8 egg whites, 1/2 c. sugar, 1 c. butter, 1 1/2 c. sugar and 3 1/2 c. self-rising flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Beat egg whites until foamy.
Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar, beating constantly until stiff peaks form.
Set aside.
Cream butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy.
Add flour alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour.
Beat well after each addition.
Fold in beaten egg whites and vanilla.
Turn into four greased and paper-lined pans (8-inch).
Bake in preheated 350Β° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans.
Cool completely on wire racks.
Place one cake layer on serving plate, spread with 1/3 of cooled Grape Filling.
Top with second layer, spread with 1/3 Grape Filling.
Repeat.
Spread Seven Minute Icing over top and sides.
