Lady Baltimore Cake

Combine flour, sugar, shortening, 1/2 cup milk and vanilla. Mix in large bowl.
Beat 2 minutes at high speed.
Add remaining 3/4 cup milk and 5 egg whites.
Beat 2 minutes at high speed. Bake at 350Β° for 30 to 40 minutes in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
Press lightly to see if center springs back.
If it doesn't, bake 5 minutes longer.
