L. B. J. (Pres. Johnson's) Favorite Pecan Pie
L. B. J. (Pres. Johnson'S) Favorite Pecan Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 deep dish frozen pie shell, 1 c. sugar, 3 eggs, beaten, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 stick butter or margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Mix together sugar, syrup, butter an salt and cook until dissolved.
While this is cooking, beat eggs until foamy.
Add small amount of hot mixture gradually to eggs (stirring constantly with whisk).
This will raise temperature of eggs to prevent separation when gradually added to the remaining hot mixture (stirring rapidly).
Add pecans and vanilla.
Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the pie has set.
Cool on rack.
