Kentucky Stack Cake
Kentucky Stack Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. sorghum (molasses), 1 c. butter or margarine, 1 c. sugar, 4 c. sifted flour and 2 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cream sorghum, butter and sugar until well blended.
Mix milk with well-beaten eggs.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with egg-milk liquid.
Stir until smooth only.
Divide batter into 6 equal amounts of 1 cup batter in each.
Spread batter in well-greased 9-inch cake pans.
Makes 6 layers.
Bake at 350Β° for 12 to 15 minutes.
Remove layers from pans and stack layers with applesauce on each layer.
Sweeten and/or spice applesauce to taste.
