Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt.
Cut in shortening.
Dissolve yeast in the 1/4 cup water; stir in buttermilk.
Add to dry mix and stir until blended.
Knead on floured board just to hold together on lightly floured surface; roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut with biscuit cutter and place on greased cookie sheet; cover and let rise 45 minutes to 1 hour. Bake at 450Β° for 10 minutes.
Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
