Bring to a boil raisins and water.
Let cool.
Cream together brown sugar, shortening and eggs.
Add the raisin mixture.
Add the following ingredients: salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, flour, oatmeal, vanilla, baking powder, baking soda and nuts.
Mix well.
Drop by spoonful onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375Β° for 10 to 15 minutes or until brown.
Remove from cookie sheet immediately.
