Italian Meat Pie
Italian Meat Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef, 1/2 lb. italian sausage, 3/4 c. oats, 1/2 c. tomato sauce and 1 egg, beaten, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Combine meats, oats, tomato sauce, egg, spices and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
Pack mixture onto bottom and halfway up sides of an ungreased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
Bake 25 minutes at 350°. Drain off excess fat.
Top meat mixture with spinach.
Arrange tomato slices over spinach.
Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese.
Top with Mozzarella cheese.
Bake 15 minutes longer at 350° until cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
Serves 8.
This dish freezes well for advance preparation.
