Beat until creamy butter, Crisco and sugar.
Sift together flour, soda and salt.
Beat 5 egg yolks and buttermilk. Alternately add buttermilk mixture and dry ingredients to Crisco and sugar mixture. Fold in egg whites stiffly beaten.
Bake in 3 greased and floured cake pans at 350Β° for 25-30 minutes.
