Thoroughly shortening sugars; add egg and beat well.
Add vanilla and nuts.
Add sifted dry ingredients; mix well and shape in rolls 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
Roll in waxed paper.
Several hours or overnight.
Slice thin. Bake on greased cookie at 425Β° for 10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
