Ice Pickles-Spice
Ice Pickles-Spice is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. salt, 2 qt. boiling water, 1 gal. sliced cucumbers, 1 tbsp. alum and 1 1/4 qt. dark vinegar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Add salt to boiling water and pour over cucumbers.
Let stand 4 days. Drain and wash cucumber slices, then pour 2 quarts boiling water over cucumbers.
Let stand 24 hours.
Drain. Add alum to 2 quarts boiling water and pour over cucumbers.
Let stand 24 hours. Drain. Boil together the vinegar, sugar and spice.
Pour over pickles. Repeat for 4 days.
Pack pickles in sterilized jars and pour hot syrup on and seal.
