Hungarian Pork and Sauerkraut

Place 6 pork chops or spareribs on bottom of pan.
Top with onion, sliced very thin.
Add sauerkraut, drained, over pork then next pour on tomato sauce.
Add water; cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours on top of stove.
Before serving, add 1 heaping teaspoonful sugar.
Do not stir or disturb while cooking.
