Caution
When mixing lye and water, follow precautions to prevent injury.
Never mix lye with hot or warm water (always cold water).
Clean rancid fats by boiling in equal amounts of water. Remove from heat.
Chill by adding 1 quart cold water for each gallon.
Remove fat from top.
